Growing up
As a child growing up in the 70’s in Colombo one had to be self sufficient. At the age of 13, I mastered the art of transforming found materials to bell bottoms and Maxis by using my sister as my muse to drape fabrics to shape the garment and my mom’s ole’ Singer machine to construct the silhouette

In 2017 I decided to hone my skills in fashion Design by attending Parsons School of Design in New York, taking various evening classes all related to fashion for 3 years

In 2021 I returned to the island, and soon started building a fully powered renewable energy design studio and launched my first label K U K K A v3 that contained my iconic Tulle Skirts inspired by the city I lived in for many decades, which is currently retailing @ PR Concept Store, Sri Lanka

This year I am launching my new label CEJLON a long time idea, an artisan driven brand of modern chic gender neutral resort wear made entirely and responsibly in Sri Lanka, with core mission of preserving the heritage art of weaving in the villages of Sri Lanka in collaboration with AOD and Urban Island, inspiring economic growth on the Island formerly known as Ceylon
